4 x 150MW RAMOS ELECTRIC COAL MINE MOUTH POWER PLANT PROEJCT AT UGBODU

Internationally, coal is currently the most widely used primary fuel, accounting for approximately 40% of the world's electricity production. This situation is likely to remain until at least 2020.

Nigeria is endowed with abundant coal reserve of the required quality necessary for power generation and with the support of the Nigerian Government particularly via the "Coal to Power Program", we have identified huge reserves of Bituminous and Lignite coal sufficient to generate power for at least 50 years.

Ramos Electric Power Ltd. has aligned with the current administration’s plan to generate 30 per cent of electricity needed in the country from coal, In line with this madate, Ramos Electric Power Ltd. has secured a mass of land at Ugbodu for her Power Plant Project.

PROJECT  LOCATION

4 x 150mw Ramos Electric Coal Mine Mouth Power Plant Proejct at Ugbodu

POWER PLANT PROJECT

PROJECT JUSTIFICATION

- Electricity is the engine that drives industrialization and growth of an economy.

- Nigeria Power Sector Reform Bill signed in to law in March 2005, enables private companies to participate in electricity generation, transmission, and distribution.

- The power plant location is less than 2km from the coal mine being developed by Mosra Enerji Ltd (MEL), a sister company to REPL. The feed     stock is Obomkpa- Ukwu-Nzu – Ugboba –Ugbodu lignite property.

-The project site can be accessed through Benin – Asaba expressway Access to the proposed port at Onitsha via the River Niger.

PROJECT CAPACITY AND LIFETIME

- REPL is anticipating an initial 300MW expandable to
600MW consisting of 4x 150 MW power block each.

- Each power block will consist of a dedicated circulating fluidized bed boiler
(CFBC), steam system, steam system turbine, electric generator (BTG) and Balance of  Plant (BOP) including ash handling system.

- The proposal CFB meets the World Bank's carbon standards.

- MEL aready has 62.43 MW of extractable coal reserves in readiness for the REPL power plant.  Reserve is expected to increase from the ongoing exploration program of other coal blocks within the area

- The plant life should be a minimum of 30 years considering the available resources at hand and about 2.8 MWPA of coal at peak.

PROJECT STATUS AND TIMELINE

- REPL has acquired landed property for the power plant at Ugbodu Kingdom, Delta State.

- The site has been surveyed and topographical map is being generated.

- REPL has engaged the services of TATA Consulting Engineers to prepare Techno-Commercial Proposal for Feasibility Studies and Owner's Engineer Services

- Grid line evacuation study Q1, 2020
- Bathymetry survey Q3, 2020
- ESIA, Q1, 2021,

THE GREAT OPPORTUNITY

-Tier 1 asset  Long lif at least 25 years based on current resources, scalable and low power generation cost.

- Low cost to market -  Mine - Mouth Power Plant,  Dedicated Infrastructure, favorable geography. The project consists of an integrated mine development and processing facilities. It's not a complex operation in terms of the technical side of things.

- Attractive returns anticipated.

- Ramos Electric Power Limited (REPL) has acquired land for proposed Coal firedpower plant in Ugbodu community, Aniocha North Local Government.

Nigeria is a mining and electricity generation friendly country with several incentives provided mining and energy companies including tax holiday and exemption from customer and import duties etc.

- 190 Million Nigerians with an available electricity generation capacity of less than 5,000MW while demand is projected in excess of 15,000MW.

- Coal-fired generating facilities in Nigeria are conspicuous by their absence.

- The proposed location of the coal-fired plants in coal-producing regions and proximity to transmission substation for power evacuation.

- The utilization of lignite resources within the Ogwashi-Asaba Lignite property to generate electricity will be a value addition to the economy.

- Availability of infrastructure  such as railway line, airport, river and good road within the proximity of the project site.
